Description
As with the rest of our premium products, SILK is uniquely formulated with your physiology and beauty in mind. It is not your ordinary body butter; simply meant to lubricate the skin, but contains a beneficial ingredients at physiological amounts that may help in improving things such as anti-cellulite, stretch mark and scar appearance.
SILK was formulated very consciously, with an adequate understanding of skin physiology and skin aging pathology in mind. We know how the skin works on a cellular, physiological and hormonal level and we understand the many overlooked, contributing factors to the development of skin problems such as cellulite, scars (fibrosis) and stretch marks. Through our intense research and experimentation, we have also discovered some simple, non-toxic agents that may help combat the causes of these skin problems.
This is what makes SILK stand above the rest – unlike other skin care products that claim to treat cellulite and stretch marks, our formula is rooted in proper physiology and contains constituents that have been proven to work in clinical trails.
Every ingredient in SILK exists with a purpose, that purpose being to either reduce the appearance of cellulite, scars and stretch marks, or diminish and prevent age spots, blemishes and other skin imperfections. Though there are many mechanisms of action that makes SILK work, some of the active ingredients have been shown in scientific studies to increase cellular respiration, which in turn supports optimal skin cell health – this may result more energized and vitalized skin!

FEATURES
- NON-TOXIC: SILK contains zero toxic ingredients, including synthetic retinol, parabens, phthalates, stearate, sulfates, and is very low in the inflammatory, toxic unsaturated fatty acids.
- SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES: SILK is formulated with safe, non-toxic ingredients, which have gentle but effective action on the health of the skin. This makes SILK safe and effective for all skin types when used in the recommended dose (1 tbsp. max daily).
- ANTI-ESTROGEN: During stress, estrogen tends to elevate, which steals oxygen from our cell’s mitochondria, resulting in oxygen deprived skin tissue. Estrogen also increases the production of the enzyme hyaluronidase, which leads to an increased breakdown of hyaluronic acid, resulting in less elastic skin. Lastly, estrogen has an affinity toward adipose tissue (fat cells), so as it accumulates it can increase the storage of fat in the body. These effects of estrogen; in combination, weaken the skin matrix, leading to the development of cellulite, scars and stretch marks. Many of the ingredients in SILK are designed to reduce tissue-bound estrogen, thus improving cellulite, stretch marks and general skin aging.
- MOISTURIZING SKIN PROTECTANT: Aside from its therapeutic value, SILK is rich in saturated fatty acids that provide moisturizing and protective qualities. Saturated fatty acids are much more stable than their unsaturated counterparts and when applied topically to the skin can have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities. The lipid sources in SILK are very hydrating and moisturizing to the skin, supporting proper skin oiliness. Properly lubricated skin and balanced skin oiliness is very protective against environmental toxins and the stress of aging.
- ANTI-AGING: Some of the ingredients in SILK improve skin cell metabolism by increasing oxygenation of the skin cell. This is a very fundamental anti-aging quality, since oxygen deprived skin is stress skin, which leads to damaged skin. SILK contains a few compounds that can increase oxygen consumption of the cells, which will improve skin cell metabolism and increase carbon dioxide production. CO2 is one of the most protective substances in the body, it actually helps oxygenate the body’s tissues by detaching oxygen from hemoglobin. When our cells produce more carbon dioxide than normal, the mitochondria produces fewer free radicals, which means less aged skin, according to the free radical theory of aging. Also, the pro-metabolic ingredients in SILK can help the cells more efficiently eliminate polyunsaturated fatty acids from the body. This is magnificently helpful considering the fact that most modern people have a high level of PUFAs in their tissues from a modern diet, which can inhibit cellular energy production, contribute to skin inflammation and aging.
How To Use
Use a small amount (coat finger tips lightly), and massage into one portion of the skin slowly and thoroughly, until absorbed well. A little bit goes a long way!! Repeat this method until you’ve covered the entire desired area. Apply Silk to dry skin after showering or before bed and massage into skin vigorously. Can be used in compliment to dry skin brushing or body massage. Make sure your skin is completely dry, as any water may increase the likelihood of re-oxidizing the Methylene Blue, turning it blue and possibly staining clothes or sheets. Use a dedicated cloth or small towel to wipe off any excess oil.
Note** Silk is an oil based product, which will melt when temperatures get too high. During summer months, and particularly hot days, we suggest NOT opening your products right away. Instead, allow them to cool at least to room temperature, or place in the fridge for 5-10 minutes before opening. Also, be sure to track your package once shipped to anticipate arrival. Tracking will provide an estimated day/time of delivery, this way you can hopefully retrieve it before it sits in the mailbox or porch for too long.
Did Your Silk Lose its Blue/Green Color?
As pictured, Silk has a emerald color, which is primarily attributed to the presence of methlyene blue (and part by the blue tansy). When first mixed into the product, the methylene blue changes the appearance of the product into the pictured color. Methylene blue is what is known as a singlet oxygen consumer, and when in its oxidized form, it is blue. However, when methylene blue is reduced it becomes colorless, revealing the original color of Silk, which is a golden tone.
A few factors attribute to the reduction of MB and therefore the loss of its blue color. One factor is simply time. As a singlet oxygen consumer, methylene blue consumes oxygen rapidly, so as Silk sits, the oxygen in the fats are consumed and MB becomes reduced. Another factor is temperature. When making Silk, the fats are carefully and slowly heated on a low setting to melt the fats to incorporate the ingredients. Generally speaking, cold temperature holds more oxygen, and warm temperature less. This means less oxygen for MB, and an increased likelihood to become reduced. The last factor is light; the presence of light will cause the reduction to go more quickly, and unfortunately, we cannot produce Silk in the dark.
The good news is that even in its reduced form, methylene blue still produces its therapeutic benefits!
More About the Product
8 oz. container
30~ servings per container
Each jar contains 12,000 mcg (12 mg) of 100% pure methylene blue, which equates to 30/ 400 mcg. servings. The jar is 8 oz. each serving should be roughly .25 oz. (which is roughly 1/2 tbsp.)
Silk is a 1% caffeine solution, which is a safe dosage for clinically observed benefits such as the reduction of cellulite, slenderizing the thighs, reducing wrinkles and promote scalp hair growth.
One study found that in a 7% “caffeine appears to have the novel benefit of slenderizing thighs. Researchers studied 99 women treated with a cream consisting mostly of a 7 percent caffeine solution. More than 80 percent of the women had a reduction in the circumference of their upper and lower thighs.” 1
Other studies found that in anti-cellulite products, caffeine works by preventing excessive accumulation of fat in the cells. The alkaloid stimulates the degradation of fats during lipolysis through inhibition of the phosphodiesterase activity. 2

Love this body butter! The name “silk” is perfect because it leaves my skin feeling like silk. It also has helped with making my legs appear more smooth as well which has further impressed me. I also absolutely love that it smells like chocolate. I will continue to use and buy this. Highly recommend!

I use Silk every night before bed to help with my dry winter skin. While it is soothing, I have noticed that my skin is smoother and more plump/supple. It really does work!

The color is beautiful, and I love the smell. This works well as a moisturizer and seems very luxurious why is why I gave it two stars. I wish I could give it five, but unfortunately, it did absolutely nothing for my cellulite.

Hello Leah,
We are sorry to hear Silk didn’t help with your cellulite. Like other physical health concerns, there are often multiple factors at play. We do not want people to think any of our products will be magic bullets for them! If that turns out to be the case (and sometimes people do have very immediate and drastic benefit), that is great! But the fact is, most supplements should be combined with more complete protocols that address underlying hormonal imbalances, possible infections, dietary and environmental contributions to the pathology of an issue. One thing we often suggest is for people to combine Mane Stay (stronger caffeine solution which research shows to help with cellulite) and Progest+ which contains USP progesterone that can help with tissue bound estrogen, which is a main key player in the development of cellulite. In addition to that, dietary and environmental factors can be at play. Usually a strength training program that targets the quads and glutes, and promoting lymphatic drainage all help with cellulite.
