A skincare routine is not complete without a quality cleanser. A good cleanser is step-one towards an effective skincare routine by effectively clearing away dirt, pollutants, pathogens and for women, makeup. Unfortunately, most cleansers today use harsh chemical detergents and surfactants that along with dirt, strip the skin of its oils (sebum) leading to dry, irritated skin. Some sulfate-containing commercial cleansers may even clog the skin by overstimulating skin cells, having counter-productive effects potentially leading to acne. Fortunately, there is a better way.
CLEAR is our luxury, all-natural facial cleanser. Its lightweight, creamy texture was carefully crafted by hand in our home-based workshop. Combining the best of nature’s bounty and science, this cleanser formula does more than clear the skin. This simple but powerful cleanser features therapeutic ingredients that support skin wellness while cleansing.
These ingredients include organic squalane, as an emollient, antioxidant, and for skin hydration, full-spectrum vitamin E for potent protective effects, bioactive Pearl Powder, which gently exfoliates and brightens the skin. It also contains naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid from organic Tremella Mushroom extract, as well as Milk Powder from grass-fed cows to help remove dead skin cells and stimulate new cell growth. These medicinal ingredients are in a base of 100% small-batched organic coconut oil soap, subtly scented by organic chamomile. 1

Ingredients
Organic Liquid, 100% Coconut Oil Soap (no polyunsaturated oils; saponified coconut oil)

How To Use
- Shake gently before use (as a natural product, free of synthetic emulsifiers, there may be some separation that occurs. A gentle shake will re-incorporate the ingredients).
- Wet face with warm, clean water.
- Apply 1-2 pumps into a clean hand, rub together to form a lather, and then massage onto the face.
- Rinse face with clean, warm water, and then pat face dry with a clean, natural towel.
NOTE** Clear contains organic milk powder, which contains natural-occurring lactic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that can exfoliate and improve skin texture. Lactic acid is the gentlest of alpha-hydroxy acids so most people can use it without issues. Still, there are always people whose bodies react differently to things.
If you notice excessive redness, burning, dryness, etc, with the use of Clear, it may be a reaction to the lactic acid. Many things can cause a sensitivity to lactic acid, all of which are usually related to a sensitive skin barrier. One of the most common culprits is a vitamin A deficiency, or toxicity. Other factors may include a history of use of Accutane, topical synthetic retinoids, excessive sun tanning, and UV exposure (especially in combination of a PUFA-rich diet), use of strong chemical peels, and even intestinal inflammation, which can inflame the skin.
If you have sensitivity to lactic acid, make sure you are not already using an exfoliant of any kind, this includes strong topical retinoids, BHA and glycolic acids, clay masks, and other acid peels. If you are sensitive to Clear, you may want to skip the step of using Mane Stay as a toner, and instead use a gentle hydrosol.
Storage
All of our products are free of harsh, synthetic preservatives. We formulate products in a way, using ingredients that do not require the need for harsh preservatives. Therefore, some products, such as Clear, have a shorter shelf life than synthetic cosmetics, and personal care products. Clear is preserved by vitamin E, and contains no water, just oil, with the listed ingredients. Therefore, it naturally has some shelf stability, so long as it is kept out of high heat temperatures, high humidity, direct light or air. We suggest keeping Clear in a cool, dark medicine cabinet. You can also keep it in the fridge for longer shelf life and freshness. It can be kept in the shower, but be careful to not get water inside as this could lead to mold growth overtime. Kept in this way, Clear will keep for 3-6 months, but will likely be used up before then if used regularly. If you wish to extend shelf life, keep it refrigerated.

This has become my go to cleanser. Most cleansers dry out my skin. I’ve had oily skin most my life, but also went though a year of low dose Accutane. Leaving my skin semi clear, dry and with very fast cell turnover. I now exfoliate daily, then use this cleanser. It leaves my skin clean but not overly dry. I’ve also used it as a body wash with great results! You can feel the quality and love that Nick and Noelle put into these products.

I have never been a huge fan of facial cleansers since I couldn’t find one that fit my skin best. Depending on the day, my face would be oil or very dry so most cleansers would not work well. I will not be trying anything else now after using Clear. It is great, and I honestly look forward to using it each day (which has never happened for me before)!

I’m not one who previously used cleanser on my skin – I’m 45, and to avoid drying out my skin, warm water with an occasional oil cleanse was my routinie, until finding this product. It’s silky-amazing. Just be sure to shake before using – I didn’t realize at first (nothing on the product description indicates, and the bottle is dark) the ingredients separate. Enjoy!

Thank you for the review. If you head to the product page, we suggest within the instructions for use to gently shake before each use as we do not use any synthetic emulsifiers and the product will settle and separate after a day. But a gently shake reincorporates the ingredients fully!

I have loved all of the products I’ve tried with forever healthy hair so far. I love Glo and Lush. I was so excited to try this cleanser but it smells awful. I’m not picky about smells at all, but this smells truly terrible like it’s rancid. I’m wondering if I got a bad bottle? I seriously can’t even power through using it the smell makes me dry heave every time I try to use it. So sad about this cleanser!

Hello! Feel free to send us an email and we can get you a new bottle. Clear uses tremella mushroom and no scents or fragrance, so it’s only scent comes from the tremella and milk powder, which has a oat/malt like scent. Unless you are used to fragrant products and unfamiliar with tremella, it shouldn’t be unpleasant at all, but not sure how it would go rancid unless it was opened and in extremely hot temperature. Again, send us an email and we’re happy to send out a new one!!!

So I don’t like this as a facial cleanser. It doesn’t remove my makeup and it makes it so my skin has a waterproof like layer on it. I don’t know how else to explain it. It also smells pretty rough and I’m used to natural products without fragrance. I do however love it as a shaving cream/lotion! It’s awesome for that! I don’t get near as much (if any) razor burn when I use it. I’ll use up my bottle and most likely not reorder.

Hello Catie, we are sorry to hear Clear doesn’t work for you like you’d hope! Making a Cleanser that didn’t have a synthetic emulsifier or surfactant in it was a tough goal to achieve. We set out to make Clear something that would mainly be able to gently wash the skin but not remove much of the skin’s natural oil, but still help create a clean feeling, while also keeping the skin lubricated. Clear is somewhat of a hybrid oil-cleanser, so if you are used to commercial cleansers, it definitely doesn’t work the same as those products use de-greasers such as SLS. One of the things Noelle wanted in a cleanser when we made it, was one that could help remove some light makeup but not be too harsh (so we avoided any de-greasers and emulsifiers), which is why it needs to be shaken before use. Noelle uses very minimal make up, and it is all non-conventional, “non-toxic” or organic makeup, so it is not as tough to remove as conventional make up products, that may be one of the reasons. it works for her in this case.

Amazing face wash, feels like a mix between an oil and milk cleanser. Cleanses makeup off better than most and doesn’t leave skin dry. Only wish it were re-stocked more often :/

I am still working through repairing my skin barrier after over-cleansing and using harsh products for years, but I have been able to use this cleanser with great benefit as part of my new routine . It is creamy yet light and leaves the skin clean but still moisturized. My favorite part is that I can tell that the milk powder very gently exfoliates my skin of dead cells when I use it at the end of the day. This cleanser is a great delight!
